When Kliks was on 3rd Avenue, we had some empty space upstairs. Enter Kor, a commercial interior design firm co-owned by Mary Piazzon Segriff. We became friends celebrating birthdays, clients, and Friday afternoons. We also shared our family life.
John married this Italian woman (who hardly opened a jar of spaghetti sauce) and revered her in a way that most of us gals could only hope for. On family picture day, John wold arrive with two adoring koala bears firmly attached to each hip, year after year, no matter how tall they grew. Once seated in the studio, I never had to instruct this family to "scoot in a little closer", they were always already there.
John was quiet, deliberate, and funny. His greatest successes were not posted as bullet points on a resume, they were felt by the quality of people he lovingly tended to. I wish I had told him that I considered him to be One Of The Good Guys but, as a humble man, I don't know that it would have sunk in.
So, I say this to Mary, Zoey, and Santana - I am deeply sorry for your unexpected loss but, if anyone were to live on, he lives on in you.
